Geometry

A Plus Tutorial defines "Geometry" as any high school class containing the word geometry. Most geometry students are in high school.  The biggest problem students have in geometry is completing proofs.  If this is the level of math your student is in and you decide to have our tutors help your student, here is what you can expect:

bullet

Our tutors help students complete homework assignments.  Most teachers count individual homework grades toward a student's final grade.  If we can ensure homework is complete and correct, we can immediately begin to impact your student's grade in class.  As we help students with homework, we create a list of previously learned topics that weren't actually retained.  We do this in stead of giving students a diagnostic test.

Once we have a list of areas your student needs extra help with, we use any extra time re-teaching those deficient skills.  This old material is what is holding your student back.  So the re-teaching of this material receives a very high priority.  Our tutors work with your student several times on the same deficient skill to be sure it has been learned adequately.

A Plus Tutorial believes repetition is the key to success.  Your student needs to continually practice geometry. The best thing your child can do is memorize definitions, theorems, and postulates.   Mom & Dad, help your student familiarize themselves with all of these.  You hold the book and ask them to define a term or draw a picture to explain a particular theorem or postulate.  Since you are holding the book, you are looking at the answer.

Once your student gets back on track, our tutors will show them study skills they can benefit from.  From how to study for a test to how to study for tomorrow's lesson in class.  There are many study skills that work for algebra.  All your student needs is someone to show them what they are.

A Plus Tutorial helps students think there way through proofs.  Geometry is where your student must begin to think.  Until now, math has been about memorization.  Geometry also includes memorization but now students are expected to explain why using definitions, theorems, and postulates.  This is very different for most students.  Beginning in geometry, math teaches students a new way of thinking.  It may not be easy but it is invaluable as a life skill.  A Plus Tutorial can give your student  the tools to succeed.

A Plus Tutorial believes success is within every student.  Your student doesn't have to hate math.  Your student doesn't have to think they aren't good at math.  In fact, A Plus Tutorial believes that a positive math experience can change all that.  It is always our goal to make your child smile.  If that sounds strange, ask yourself this question.  Are you more likely to learn something when you are feeling positive or negative?  We give your student a reason to smile at A Plus Tutorial because we know that's when they learn best.

If your child is struggling to learn geometry, please get them help now.  Your decision to get help, now versus later, could mean the difference between success and that dreaded expression "I hate math."  Your student doesn't have to get help from A Plus Tutorial  buy they have to get help.  This is one decision you don't want to put off.

Pricing

Each of the "geometry" lessons at A Plus Tutorial lasts 75 minutes and costs $40.00.

We can see your student in our office once a week, twice a week, or three times a week.  It all depends on the needs of your child.  There are no contracts to sign and your obligation to A Plus Tutorial is based on a week to week commitment.

We want what is best for your child.  And sometimes that means a different tutor or no tutor at all.  When students come back week after week it is because they (and their parents) are benefiting from the time spent at A Plus Tutorial.  Not because there is a contractual agreement.  Try A Plus Tutorial today.

"Congruent"

The word congruent means essentially the same as the word "equal" only it is used to compare line segments and angles.

"Quadrilateral"

A quadrilateral is just a four sided figure.  Think of a shape that has four sides.  Now you know what a quadrilateral looks like.

Supplementary Angles

Angles are supplementary if the sum of their measures equals 180o.

What does this mean?  Every angle has a measurement, or measure.  If you add the measures of two angles and you get 180o, then the two angles are supplementary.

Congruent Triangles

Two triangles are congruent if all six parts of any triangle are congruent (see definition above) to the corresponding six parts of another triangle.
