A Plus Tutorial has helped students pass the Nevada High School Math Proficiency Exam since the exam was introduced.  Over 90% of the students who have come to us for help have passed prior to their scheduled graduation date.  Our results speak for themselves.  

A Plus Tutorial believes that repetition is the key to success in mathematics.  The Math Proficiency Exam is a test that can be adequately prepared for with great repetition.  We rarely ask students to do things only once at A Plus Tutorial.  In fact, we go over a problem or topic as many times as it takes to be sure the student understands.  We also ask students to do practice tests as many times as it takes for them to feel confident before taking the test.

A Plus Tutorial is a strong proponent of learning topics, not problems.  The topics can be learned with help from a qualified, patient, tutor.  Once a student learns the topic of Proportions for example, the student will begin to recognize problems with the components of a proportion problem and then apply the method of solving proportions.  This is accomplished through positive reinforcement and continued repetition.  

A Plus Tutorial uses a well rounded approach to preparing students for the Math Proficiency Exam.  Although we are interested in the breakdown of student scores on past attempts at the exam, we will not focus primarily on the topics with the lowest scores.  We believe that a student should be encouraged to make progress anywhere and everywhere they are able.  That is why we have chosen this well rounded approach.  Our method gives your child the best chance to improve percentages across the board.  If you need 20 points to pass the exam, do you really care where the 20 points come from?  We don't either.

A Plus Tutorial uses practice tests and an entry level workbook to help your student prepare for The Nevada High School Math Proficiency Exam.  We continue to create and compile practice tests to include in your student's study materials.  Many of the tests included in the study materials were released from The State of Nevada and its school districts.  Some tests were created by A Plus Tutorial.  We may also include a workbook that helps us re-teach and reinforce important topics that your child is sure to see on the Math Proficiency Exam.  

Students must budget time each day to prepare for the Math Proficiency Exam.  Students do not have to come to A Plus Tutorial every day for a lesson.  We typically schedule students for two to three appointments each week.  But that is not enough!  Students must spend time outside of A Plus Tutorial reviewing the information covered by tutors at A Plus Tutorial.  We believe that math is learned by repetition.  Your student should understand that their success will be directly related to their diligence in studying outside of A Plus Tutorial.
